The German instrumental duo SANKT OTTEN already teamed up for building the first walls of sound in 1999. Since then, they have released 4 albums and several eps together. In 2009, they joined DENOVALI RECORDS to realize their 4th full length MORGEN WIEDER LUSTIG, followed by a SPLIT record with MAJEURE – the solo project of A.E. PATERRA from ZOMBI (Relapse Records) - in 2010.

On the MAJEURE split they for the first time showed a more distinctive interest to the world of 70s and 80s synthesizers. The new album GOTTES SYNTHESIZER continues this voyage into the synth’s heaven. A paradise of warm analogue sounds, sequencer lines and electric drums garnished with the typical soaring guitar drones of OLIVER KLEMM as the central theme of the album.By adding ingredients reminding of the German pioneers of progressive electronic music, SANKT OTTEN are moving the KRAUTROCK elements into a new context.

With FAST NEU IST AUCH GEBRAUCHT the full length includes an hommage to the old KRAUTROCK heroes NEU! just as a ROBERT FRIPP influenced 13 minutes monster piece like the title track GOTTES SYNTHESIZER. Other songs (DIE WELT IST JA NICHT ZUM AUSHALTEN or ICH VERLASSE MICH SELBST) are rather influenced by STEPHAN OTTEN’s energetic electric drums. Mellow epic ambient hymns like WIR SIND DEINE PROPHETEN or DAS ENDE VOM LIED are their great tool to create a connection between specific soundscapes in order to make a coherent album out of the single tracks. The main excellence of this full length is that SANKT OTTEN are combining influences of an old genre with elements of today’s music to a new interesting mixture.

For the artwork of GOTTES SYNTHESIZER the spanish artist SALUSTIANO borrowed SANKT OTTEN some of his significant paintings. The art they’ve chosen together is a perfect effigy of SANKT OTTEN’s sound. The vinyl comes as a thick 180g gatefold version in 3 different colors – the cd in nice digipaks.

For fans of KLAUS SCHULZE, ZOMBI, BRIAN ENO, or KRAUTROCK in general.

The Blade Runner Soundtrack from Vangelis, Kraftwerk, Klaus Schulze, Brian Eno? There’s no doubt about the fact that both artists who take part in this collaboration record are influenced by that kind of sound.

MAJEURE – the solo project of ZOMBI’s drummer A.E. Paterra – has already received a lot of attention via the 2009 debut release TIMESPAN (Temporary Residence Records) and a remix album released in 2010. “Timespan delivers inspiring sci-fi disco of the highest caliber. Anchored by Paterra's sturdy, propulsive live drums, each song uses layers of analogue synthesizers to masterfully craft extended compositions that virtually stop time before speeding it up, culminating in countless moments of genuine majesty."

The German duo SANKT OTTEN works together since 1999. They have released 4 albums and several eps + singles so far. In 2009 they joined DENOVALI RECORDS to release the 4th full length “MORGEN WIEDER LUSTIG” which firstly created an international interest in their soundscapes: atmosphere, melodic dexterity and depth. The silence before the storm and the silence afterwards.

In early 2010 fortunately both projects decided to record and release a completely new full length together. With “Moonbow”, MAJEURE contributes a well fitting and rather positive sounding introduction to the record, followed by the beat orientated masterpiece “The Traveler” and a more depressive horror sounding “Aleph Institute”. TIMESPAN was described as “totally stompin' analogue synth heaven” – “The Traveler” brings this impression to perfection. “Aleph Institute” on the other hand follows the way Paterra already evolved with ZOMBI – a long depressive hypnotic journey. With the 10 minutes track “Es ist nicht alles Gott was glänzt” and with “Ich beantrage die Unsterblichkeit” SANKT OTTEN mix their own well known sophisticated spherical sound with a more ZOMBI like drumming and atmosphere. The result: they chip in two songs which easily hop into the top three of the best songs they have ever written – “Es ist nicht alles Gold was glänzt” is maybe the best one they ever did since the beginning in 1999. Track 6 “Mit offenen Augen” and 7 “Der Sonne entgegen” rather tie in with the “MORGEN WIEDER LUSTIG” album sound and retain the quality of album number four.

The Cd version offers the bonus track “Höhere Gewalt” by “Sankt Majeure”. Both artists created different parts and assembled them to a 4:19 track which would have been a perfect addition to the mentioned Blade Runner Soundtrack from VANGELIS.

Essential for fans of STEVE MOORE, ZOMBI, KRAFTWERK

Sankt Otten's fourth album sees the duo’s sound evolving once again, while retaining the undeniable hallmarks of atmosphere, melodic dexterity and depth. “Morgen wieder lustig” employs stacks of luscious synthesizers, with knowing nods to fellow Germans Kraftwerk and Klaus Schulze, alongside Oliver Klemm's hallmark soaring guitar drones and Stephan Otten’s unmistakable rhythms. While their early sonic experiments explored the brooding and frayed edges of ambient, post-rock and jazz, these new songs push this relationship to a new level. Morgen wieder lustig shifts from the head-rush ambience of 'Das bezahlte Lob' to the dark and twisted post-jazz of 'Fromme Lügen'. Just when you think you have the album pegged, 'X für U' drags you on a melancholic, Klaus Schulze-inspired sc-fi odyssey.
